English workshop: 14 to 17 March 2012
(LW Afrikaanse werkswinkel: 1 tot 4 Augustus 2012)
With today’s rampant availability of Internet pornography, sexual addiction is becoming an epidemic that affects up to 10% of the population. As devastating as any drug habit, it brings heartbreak and despair to those it entangles. But there is help for men and women caught in sexual addiction’s downward spiral. The goal of the workshop is to come to an understanding of sexual addiction, to explain its dynamics, to describe its consequences, to understand its stages and progression, and to understand where it comes from, with specific attention to family structure, bonding and boundaries. The workshop is very practical, and is based on the task centred approach developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, a pioneer in the treatment of sexual addiction.
When: It is a three and a half day workshop Wed 14 to Sat 17 March 2012.
Program: Wed to Fri, from 08h30 to 17h00. Sat from 08h30 to 13h00.

Endorsement:
I recommend Theo Kriek and this professional workshop to every service provider and counselling centre treating sexual addiction. It is based on the pioneering work of Dr. Patrick Carnes who started the first treatment centres in the US for sexual addiction. The need for therapists and counsellors in this area is tremendous. When more people can be equipped and have a better understanding on how sex addiction operates, the better the chance to help those caught up in this tsunami. Theo Kriek has both the training and experience to teach about and give understanding in how the addiction operates and impact people’s lives. Prof Wentzel Coetzer - NWU
